Eunime an orphanage for children and adolescents living with HIV/AIDS in Tijuana, Mexico is seeking donations to help support its programs and services. The non-profit orphanage currently has 31 kids and recently took in a 4 month old infant. Eunime spokesman Freddy Ortiz Rojas told MO's Universe that the center is expecting at least 2 more infants, including a one year old and a five year old with "terminal stage" which the center is hoping to get healthy again, adding "We have had 5 other kids arrive in terminal stages and now are thriving and healthy."

The orphanage is named after Eunice and Noemi the first known cases of HIV in kids in TIjuana, Mexico. They provide services and comprehensive care for children and adolescents with HIV/AIDS to improve physical and mental health, offering support groups, educational workshops to eliminate discrimination and provide a more effective HIV/AIDS prevention response and care of the 31 children who currently live at the orphanage.

In 1995, two girls named Eunice and Noemi Quezada, were among the first diagnosed cases of AIDS in Tijuana. Eunice was given her diagnosis at 7 months and Naomi at 8 years of age for which the orphanage was named, using a combination of the names Eunice Naomi, EUNIME. Eunice died in January 1999, as a result of AIDS and Naomi is currently 26 years old. The orphanage is dedicated to the memory of EUNICE.

Eunime is non-profit organization who solely depends on charitable donations to offers services from housing and integrated care for orphaned children abandoned by their parents who suffer from HIV/AIDS. They also offer services such as support groups, education on treatment of HIV/AIDS services. In January 2005 Eunime started self-help groups with an educational focus. In the first year they served a total of 15 families. Currently we are serving approximately 31 children infected or affected by HIV/AIDS and provide services and related activity to additional families with similar situations. In January 2007 they were invited to collaborate on a project by the municipality to provide shelter to homeless children infected by HIV/AIDS.

These children depend on EUNIME 100% to cover their basic medical needs. From food & clothing, footwear, housing and schooling. They work to reintegrate the children into society by providing educational & recreational activities so they can enjoy a healthy life and thus develop their innate potential as children, teenagers and young adults.
